Yesterday I dug a hole in the back yard where I plan to plant my paperbark maple. This poor tree was purchased last year and sat in the pot until now. At one point it got so dry that all the leaves dried up and fell off. I soaked the pot and put it in the shade and the trooper came right back. The soil in my yard is typically full of clay and needs lots of help (compost and peat moss). As I dug the hole I kept encountering pieces of concrete and other detritus (wire, glass and brick) convincing me that I'd run into the remnants of the original garage on the property. I decided to soak the hole with water and wait until tomorrow to plant the tree.
| Look closely and you'll see that Skye found the hole too irresistible to pass up. |
| The culprit - when she's not jumping into holes she can be found climbing things like the neighbor's locust tree. |
