I am a person who feels compelled to rescue nursery plants that are on sale because they are looking pretty neglected. They are often salvageable if you take the time to nurse them back to health. Emery's Garden in Lynnwood has a section called "Stump Alley" where I purchased my golden hop vine. It looked barely alive and now it covers an entire corner of my fence.
I didn't really get any summer vegetables planted this year but I picked up a couple of tired looking tomato plants recently. Tonight I had a tiny harvest from my Sun Gold plant. They were delicious.
