When it rains it pours. After having Grady at the vet earlier in the week, now it's Finnegan's turn. He's been out of sorts lately and it finally got to the point that I thought I should bring him in. However, I needed to get a new cat carrier since Skye trashed the cardboard one on her last visit. I'm too cheap to buy a new fancy one so I headed to Goodwill where I found a nice one for $7.99. Cleaned it up with some soap and bleach and tossed an old towel in. Two minutes later, Skye couldn't resist climbing in to check it out.
Finnegan is supposed to eat really expensive Science Diet CD food which can only be purchased through a vet or online. I have to monitor him all the time because everybody else's food is much more appealing, and potentially harmful. For example, if the dog doesn't eat his food right away, I often grab the dish and put it up high on top of the microwave. It doesn't always work because I was awakened by a crash at about 3:30 this morning. Finnegan had jumped from the floor to the table to the baker's rack and ultimately to the microwave. He then knocked the dog's dish down. He's one determined food thief.

| Apparently I missed a few pieces of dog food when I swept them up early this morning. |

After examining him and not finding any other symptoms, my vet seemed to think that Finnegan's problem was brought on by flea irritation. Some medicine, an update on his shots and we were out the door. I was asked to monitor him and Dr. Gill did say I could try giving him the cheap urinary tract health food from the pet store.
By the way, Finnegan is so heavy he put a crack in the pet carrier already. Guess it will have to become Skye's personal carrier and I'll have to upgrade for him. He might be the most expensive shelter animal I've ever owned.
