Day 339 - Thrift Store Purchases In = Donations Out

A few years ago I read some advice that I've tried to follow; if you don't want to continue collecting stuff, when you buy something new, donate something you no longer need or use.  On my way home from getting my haircut in Seattle, I stopped at two different Value Village stores (Crown Hill and Lynnwood) and a St. Vincent dePaul (Lynnwood).  I got some pretty awesome deals.

As I left the salon on Capitol Hill, one of the Blue Angels screamed overhead during one of their practice runs.  This was all I could get using my phone. Thank goodness I have a few decent pictures taken during a show years ago.  I have to admit, seeing/hearing them NEVER gets old for me.

First up, check out this great little table from Value Village in Seattle.  I am thinking about using it outside but when my friend Anne saw it today, she thinks I should use it inside.

I got this for $14.99!

Love the detail; all it needs is some spot sanding, a Murphy's Oil Soap wash and a coat of varnish.

At St. Vincent dePaul, I found three things.  Everything was on sale which made it even sweeter.

First off, a really comfortable pair of shoes for $15.59.  They are from ARA and I went online and couldn't find any of their shoes on sale for less than $100.00. This pair appears new.

Then I saw this interesting little box that I got for $2.39.  There's a small label on the bottom that says "Made in USSR".

Finally, this great little art deco alarm clock for my spare bedroom.  It's from Pottery Barn and it was only $7.99. I couldn't find it on their current website but all of their similar clocks were at least $40.00.  One big plus is that it doesn't make that loud ticking sound that would keep somebody awake.  Another plus - I know it works because the alarm went off in the middle of the night.

So, in keeping with that advice, I loaded the car with a donation which I will drop off tomorrow morning.  The dress in that Frederick and Nelson bag - beautiful, classic styling but never worn.  It was 100% red wool and yes, I'm pretty sure it came from F & N.
