Day 324 - Leaving on a Jet Plan

It's always bittersweet when I have to leave.  Someday I should do an entire post about the amazing transformation that has occurred over the 32 years since Lee and John purchased the property.  It's come a long way since their first farm stand with the unattended box of money.  I decided to get up early and to stroll around the Briar Patch to take some photos.

Inside the greenhouses. . .

over 300 varieties of hostas - one of the largest collections in the Maritimes

grasses

baskets and annuals

begonias

Around the nursery. . .

Japanese maples

evergreen trees and shrubs

The grounds and my sister's perennial gardens. . .

smokebush

linden tree

the adjoining property which they purchased and renovated a few years back

A couple of the cats. . .

Mr. Scrooge was a stray who decided to stay and is one of only two barn cats remaining

Checkers is their house cat.  She's a pretty spry old gal who only has one external ear.

All too soon it was time to head for the airport.  The only good thing about traveling from the east coast to the west coast is the time change.  You don't feel as worn out as you do when you head in the opposite direction even when you have to spend some significant time in an airport (like I did).

The second leg from Boston to Portland comes to and end.  Almost home. . .
