When I dug up my front lawn, I saved most of the rocks that I encountered. I sifted out the small ones, I created a pile of medium sized ones and separated out the larger ones. All the REALLY large ones were left close to where I found them . . . one weighed at least 75 pounds and required 3-4 people to get it out of the huge hole where it had been hiding. My goal is to use all of them somewhere in my yard as part of the overall landscape plan; at the base of the house foundation, as a dry stream bed, etc.
My rock piles |
"new" gravel for my walkway and free topsoil I hauled from a neighbor |
My hope is that by the end of August, these piles will have been seamlessly incorporated elsewhere into the landscape that makes up my property.
Damn industrious and useful!
