Day 318 - Lunch with Family

My sister and I went into the city today to take our Aunt Diane and Lee's mother-in-law Thelma out to lunch.  One of the main reasons for my trip was the fact that our aunt is in the beginning stages of dementia and Lee figured she might not remember me by next year.  It was great to see her but so sad to see what is happening to my mother's only sister.  Contrast that to Thelma who is in her nineties.  You can still have a stimulating conversation with her regarding just about anything.

Lunch at a great Greek restaurant (Diane is seated next to Lee and Thelma next to me)

Our maternal grandmother ended up in a nursing home in the 60's way before we even knew what Altzheimer's Disease was.  She had all the symptoms.  I have to admit that I'm concerned enough that I'm considering being tested because the thought of dementia terrifies me.

  1. Thelma's in her 90s? She looks amazing and even better that she has with-it-ness :)
