Every year I am blown away by the things our parent community does for us. I think about all the wonderful deserving teachers elsewhere who have parents who probably appreciate them but don't have the funds (or organization) that our community does. Here's a run down of the 4 day work week.
Day 1: Espresso cart set up in the staff lounge pumping out drinks we ordered and delivering them to our room. Day 2: Way too many types of candy available in the staff lounge (plus ways to get more candy by guessing how many candies there were in different jars). Thank goodness I didn't win any of those! Day 3: Burrito bar at lunch with a wonderful variety of things to place in, on and around your burrito. Day 4: Chocolate dessert fountain with things like strawberries, cream puffs and angel food cake to dip. We drew numbers out at lunch and then received a gift card(s) that matched the number. I got a $25 card for Itunes!
I also had a number of things mysteriously placed in my mailbox from kids or parents like the ones pictured below.
The other thing I love about this week - leadership students create posters for every teacher and staff member. They try to sneak around and put them up on the wall outside our rooms and every year, I'm touched by how creative and thoughtful they are. Over the years, I've kept some really amazing ones to put up in my room. Here's the poster I got this year. Can you tell we've been learning about the Moon in science?
