Day 183 - The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

Teaching junior high can be rewarding, frustrating and hilarious, all within the span of 10 minutes.  Take today for example.

The good:  One of my teammate's students suffered a seizure during class yesterday.  It was totally unexpected and really threw her students for a loop. They all wanted to make a card welcoming her back today so they came into my room during my planning period to secretly sign it.  It was very sweet.

The bad:  My students answered a series of questions recently as we began a new curriculum about Earth in Space.  After they answered the questions individually, I asked them to compare answers to see if there were common responses.  Apparently somebody wrote this as an answer to the question. Even worse, the checks mean somebody else agreed with the statement. Seriously?? Whales?

The ugly:  I found this very fresh gum pressed onto the top of one of my tables.  They didn't even try to hide it.  The students in the next class were totally grossed out when I peeled it off with my fingernail.

  1. I think the whale comment has something to do with a South Park episode. The gum.... I too am grossed out.
