Today marked the close of an endless stream of standardized tests, specifically, the new "end of course" math assessments. Thanks to the State of Washington, it was insanity for all involved. Kids were stressed by the tests themselves in addition to the other classes/work they missed while testing. Math teachers were stressed and frustrated by the testing time involved and teaching time lost. The rest of us were trying to plan our own class finals and I personally just ran out of time and methods to get my students caught up on what they missed in science.
This was year one so I'm hoping we review the process, provide feedback to the State and do what educators do best - modify and adjust next year. Thank you Jen for organizing the chaos to the best of your ability. For my own records, I decided to keep all of the passes handed to me as students entered my room late (sometimes missing an entire class) due to testing.
pretty sure there are 31 passes here. . .surely that's a record of some sort |
Another bonus today. . .not one but two fire alarms, both of which were pulled. If this is any sort of indication, it's going to be an awesome end of the year.
the stuff I get to lug outside everytime the alarm goes off |
But I just want to teach....please let me great State of (math) Washington where it would seem that 2+2 is more important than the voice of Martin Luther King.
