I've been thinking about doing this for some time and decided that today made sense. My last "day of freedom" before the first day of school. A cool, rainy day all to myself. I decided to sleep in a bit and then head over to the Maltby Cafe for a relaxing breakfast as I knew there would be no crowds on a weekday. One of the owners was a parent at a school where I had a part-time job as an educational assistant while getting my teaching certificate/masters degree. She used to bring us those giant cinnamon rolls and I decided that I needed to have one of those today. If you've never had one, they really are big enough to last you for 3 days!
Armed with a full stomach, I wound my way to Snohomish to check out the antique shops. I've been in love with (and purchasing) antiques since I was a child. I tend to migrate towards the simple, more primitive things. I love old tools and gadgets, even if they don't work, just to hang on a wall.
This is a picture of my "finds" for the day. I can never pass up a map and I found this one of Nootka Sound/Nootka Island off the coast of British Columbia. I already have a small collection of molds (mostly cookie and butter molds) and I thought this odd homemade mold would be a nice addition. Not sure what I will use the old metal stamp for but I loved the scrolling design, almost celtic in appearance. The reversible steel spindle was a great buy at $5.50.
